Diversity and Inclusion
We believe healthcare should be respectful, accessible and inclusive. Every person who uses our service should be treated with dignity, regardless of their background, culture, language, age, gender, ability, family circumstances or personal situation.
We recognise that healthcare is personal. Patients may come to us with different needs, experiences and expectations. Our goal is to support a healthcare experience that is clear, respectful and fair, while maintaining appropriate clinical standards and safety.
Respectful Care
Dociva is committed to supporting respectful interactions between patients, practitioners and our support team. We expect all users of our platform to communicate respectfully and honestly, and we do not tolerate abusive, discriminatory or threatening behaviour.
We also understand that some patients may feel anxious or uncertain when seeking healthcare online. We aim to make our process simple, transparent and easy to understand so patients can provide the information needed for an appropriate clinical assessment.
Fair Access
We aim to make short-term medical certificate requests easier to access for eligible patients across Australia, including people who may have difficulty attending a clinic in person due to work, study, caregiving responsibilities, location or other practical barriers.
Online healthcare is not suitable for every situation. Where a patient's symptoms or circumstances require urgent care, in-person assessment or ongoing management, they may be advised to seek care from an appropriate healthcare provider.
Inclusive Platform Design
We work to design our platform in a way that is clear, simple and accessible. This includes using plain language where possible, presenting important information clearly, and continuing to improve the experience for people using different devices and assistive technologies.
We understand that inclusion is an ongoing responsibility. As Dociva grows, we will continue reviewing our platform, communication and processes to identify ways to reduce barriers and improve accessibility.
Practitioner and Team Culture
Dociva values a professional and inclusive working environment. We seek to work with practitioners, team members and partners who treat others with fairness, respect and professionalism.
We believe that different perspectives strengthen healthcare delivery and business decision-making. A respectful and inclusive culture helps us build better systems, improve patient experience and support safe clinical outcomes.
No Discrimination
Dociva does not support discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, family or carer responsibilities, socioeconomic background or any other protected attribute.
Clinical decisions made through Dociva must be based on relevant medical information, professional judgement and patient safety, not personal bias or irrelevant personal characteristics.
Continuous Improvement
We know that diversity and inclusion require ongoing effort, not one-off statements. As our service develops, we will continue to improve our policies, platform design and internal processes to better support patients, practitioners and staff.
If a patient, practitioner or team member identifies a barrier to access, communication or respectful participation, we encourage them to contact us so the matter can be reviewed appropriately.
Our Commitment
Our commitment is simple: to build a healthcare platform that treats people fairly, communicates clearly and supports respectful access to appropriate care.
Diversity and inclusion are part of how we build trust, protect patient dignity and create a safer healthcare experience for everyone who interacts with Dociva.
